Georgia Opposition Rallies: Big Words, Small Crowds

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán arrived in Tbilisi to show solidarity with the Georgian Dream government tonight, where he was booed by a small crowd of protesters. These folks were almost certainly earning their pay from Western G-NGOs for the boos of the Hungarian Euroskeptic politician that would make the nightly state-funded broadcasts in the UK, Germany or France. Speaking of France, unregistered French foreign agent Salome Zourabichvili--who unfortunately holds the largely ceremonial office of the Georgian Presidency--clownishly declared that she did not need to demonstrate evidence to support her assertion of Russian intelligence interference in the elections. She told foreign journalists, "What is important is not what we demonstrate from the outside, but what the Georgian population knows, feels and sees." In this sense, Madame Zourabichvili is a soulmate with American Democratic Party Karens like Louise Mensch who pushed the #TrumpRussia collusion hoax for the last several years.

ExitStrategy.World Eurasia Editor Stanislav Krapivnik was on the streets tonight filming the protests, giving his best guesstimate of about 10,000 people in attendance--with not everyone who was out and about protesting. In the video above posted to Stas' Mr. Slavikman YouTube channel, you can hear Western journalists doing their stand-ups in English nearby for their nightly newscasts. In addition to the press, there are also many foreign observers from PACE, OSCE and other do-gooder para-parliamentary European organizations on the streets.

Amid rumors reported by TASS, RT and other Russian media that Ukrainian infiltrators could attempt to replicate the Maidan snipers (who all conveniently got away) false flag operation that accelerated the coup in Kiev of February 2014, the high professionalism of the Georgian police and security services has ensured that protests have remained peaceful--thus far. As Stas reported over the weekend, security is tight and there are street closures on major thoroughfares, especially around the main government buildings 'peaceful protesters' could suddenly attempt to storm. These security measures resulted in traffic jams extending late into Monday evening, but many Georgians are grateful for the strong police presence as a deterrent against provocations by foreign agitators.
