It's Happening! AmericanVillages.ru

Tim Kirby, the Most Russian American, is an Ohio native who plays semi-professional American football and serves as a football color commentator for the Moscow Spartans. Even more impressively, he's still in the game--as a player/coach on the Spartans' offensive line--at age 43. Tim has worked in the Russian media for over a decade and a half. In recent years, he has co-developed the AmericanVillages.ru project in the Moscow Region town of Istra, roughly a one hour and fifteen minutes drive or 70 kilometers as the crow flies (approximately 44 miles) northwest of the Kremlin.

The site features twenty lots for single-family homes, of which two have construction soon to be completed on them. The basic idea is, since everyone emigrating to Russia (even with the August 2024 presidential decreed Shared Values Visa) needs a permanent place of registration, and many North American immigrants prefer to live in a single-family home over a city apartment, why not purchase an exurban lot and build on it, in a small community designed for English-speakers and conveniently close to Moscow?

This week marked a major milestone for the AmericanVillages project/s, as the first American couple buyers, Kristopher and Jill, arrived to Moscow, and Tim gave them a video-recorded tour of their new Istra home, which is just weeks away from completion in early spring. The last time we saw the Istra construction site in one of Tim's videos, this rising home was some concrete blocks on a slab and empty window sills. That was back in September, and now the electrical wiring, plumbing, hot water heater, and thick windows have been installed, while insulation is being completed by the work crews.

We last interviewed Tim on Christmas Day 2024, and we plan to have Tim back on the ESW webcast this spring to discuss more exciting developments, including potential other sites for future American Villages projects.
