To Live and Die as an Alawite, Shi'a or Christian in Syria

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the dominant militant group in northwestern Syria, once presented itself as a local opposition force. Just over a month ago, the group was formally disbanded and became part of the Syrian Defense Ministry, yet its origins tell a far more sinister story. Born out of the ashes of Jabhat al-Nusra, Al-Qaeda’s official branch in Syria, HTS carries the same ideological DNA as the world’s most notorious terrorist network. While it has sought to rebrand itself for international legitimacy, its methods remain unchanged: Massacres, ethnic cleansing, and the systematic extermination of those who do not conform to its radical ideology.

Nowhere has this been more evident than in Syria’s coastal cities, where HTS and its foreign recruits have unleashed an unspeakable wave of violence against Alawite, Christian, and Druze communities. Entire villages have been erased, their inhabitants slaughtered in the dead of night. Yet, as these horrors unfold, the world remains indifferent, and the silence of international powers only emboldens the perpetrators.

The EUrocrats Blame the Victims of a Sectarian Massacre in Syria

Rivers of blood are flowing in Syria, one of the worst massacres so far of the 21st century, and certainly the largest of 2025. Naturally, the disgusting European Union External Action Service's first instinct was to blame the victims. While paying lip service to the deaths of civilians, the EUrocrats initially blamed the mass killings of Alawites on HTS reprisals against this sect for their acts of resistance against the jihadist-dominated post-Assad regime. This followed the line put out by Qatari funded media such as Al-Jazeera, which supports the new authorities, as do the Turks.

It's true that there have been some post-Assad officers and soldiers of the previous regime engaging in ambushes of HTS goons on highways around the coastal Latakia region, the Alawite heartland. But the regime has responded to these sporadic acts of guerrilla warfare with terror and slaughter against thousands of Alawite civilians. The blood of Syrian Orthodox Christians (known in Arabic as Rum, the old Arab word for Byzantium, the Eastern Roman Empire), as well as that of the Alawites (an offshoot of Shia Islam) and the Shia are being brought as sacrifices to the soulless powers of the Collective West. Children as young as newborns, as well as pregnant women are being butchered, with all of the carnage being filmed and posted for the enjoyment of the Western-sponsored, supported and created radicals. The initial Western media spin, at least prior to the U.S. and Russia issued a rare joint statement at the United Nations condemning the new Syrian authorities failure to stop the killings, has been demonic as well.

Assad Neglected Syria's Allies for Years Prior to Getting Ousted

It took over 14 years to oust Assad. The first big cracks was when America's Persian Gulf allies in Qatar and Saudi Arabia promised Assad legitimization from the Americans, if only he would distance himself from Russia, ran, Yemen, Hezbollah and Hamas. The gentle ophthalmologist wanted so badly to get back into the good graces of the West, the very Western powers that had dragged his nation into the hell of a bloody civil war. The former colonial rulers of the Levant, the French and British, wanted to bring “moderate” jihadists to power, and they did just that. They achieved their goal in part, due to Assad's failures, which hastened the downfall of the Syrian Arab Republic.

In the years following Russia's military victories alongside the Iranian-backed Hezbollah and Iraqi Shi'a volunteer fighters, Assad backed away from the alliance that had saved his skin, as well as his extended clan and his nation. Assad betrayed the Resistance Axis and received the inevitable: sectarian jihadist conquest. Assad's Syrian Arab Army, with the exception of the Russian-trained Tiger Forces, totally collapsed and dispersed to their homes. Now SAA officers are being systematically hunted down and murdered, supposedly as rough justice for atrocities they committed during the civil war, in reality due to the sectarian bloodlust of the jihadist conquerors, many of whom aren't even Syrians but Al-MI6-aeda members of the jihadi international: renegade Chechens, Uyghurs, and North Africans . Vae victis, as the ancient Romans used to say--woe to the vanquished!

The Suit and Tie-Wearing Former Terrorist the Collective West Brought in to Rule Syria

The State formerly known as Syria is divided by the occupying Turkish Army and its neo-Ottoman Syrian Turkmen allies, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) aka the Kurds and the HTS formerly ISIS formerly Al Qaeda Jihadists whose leader is Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa. Unlike the clown of Kiev Zelensky, Mr. Al-Sharaa aka Al-Joulani (previously branded a terrorist by the US State Department as well as the UN Security Council) knows how to put on a suit and tie, in order to present a 'moderate' reformed rebel image. That this massacre is being downplayed by the Europeans, especially the Brits and the French, plus their allied tyrants in Brussels, is no surprise. Al-Joulani is the very type of person that these globalist elites search for, sponsor and import into their own countries to make sure that the locals are kept in fear of Islamists.

So, when the HTS leader and now dictator of the half of Syria under his control “president” Abu Mohammed al-Joulani and his band of cutthroats came to power, they were greeted with open arms and a huge PR campaign. Jordan’s government, as an example, started working with the 'former' terrorists to combat terrorism. Jordan has even started playing with the wolves to kill off what was left of Assad’s military, hoping that these wolves will not tear their country limb from limb, at least not before the Israelis make Jordan part of Greater Israel.

The British media ran PR placement stories about this former Islamic radical, aka a mass murdering terrorist, and how he has come over to the side of all that is good and blissful. They also ran stories about his wife, about how he now dresses in suits, even as his comrades in HTS remain on most nations’ terrorist lists. For this reason, Joulani had an incentive to play nice, no massacres, as he was invited to the Arab League Summit and also hobnobbed with Western envoys. Meanwhile, a mass murder campaign was underway, killing off former Assad officers and officials who were foolish enough to think that they could survive the regime change. Equally, moderate Sunnis, especially moderate imams who dared voice opposition to these moves by the radicals, were also liquidated.

Wetting the Bloodlust Appetite of the Jihadi International for Their Use as Globalist Janissaries on Other Fronts

Now, in March, the first month of Spring, the jihadists have decided on a full spring-cleaning of sorts, that is, the full extermination of all Christians, Alawites and Shia from their enclaves in coastal Syria. Why not? They have political cover from the tyrants in Brussels and their sponsors in the globalist dominated Western European capitals.

The EU tyrants’ pocket mass media has turned the issue on its head, claiming the victims are remnants of the Assad army attacking the poor innocent jihadists. Yes, read the headlines, they're sickening. Only if that was all they were doing to aid and abide these Islamist head choppers. Of course, it could not and would not be so simple. No, not only a PR campaign, not only cover for mass murder, but Joulani is expected in Brussels for fund raising. Yes, you read that correctly, the EU(SSR) tyrants will hold posh dinners and raise international donor funds for the mass murderers to rebuild and recruit an army from their international jihadis. I wonder why? Could the plan be supporting these jihadis to provide a future enforcer class for the EU(SSR) elites exerting control over an increasingly unruly EU population, which is sick and tired of being rendered a minority in their homelands? After all, 2 and 3-tier justice and policing are now facts of life in the United Kingdom, where the British, Welsh and Scots are the aborigines of these islands, a second-class inhabitant within their own lands.

Russia Protects the Syrian Alawite and Christian Refugees at Its Bases

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that around 9,000 Syrians – presumably mostly Alawites – sought shelter at her country’s Khmeimim airbase to escape the violence that she very strongly condemned. On that topic, Reuters cited two sources who were briefed on last week’s closed-door UNSC meeting on Syria to exclusively report that Russian Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzia “lambasted” what happened by comparing it to the Rwandan Genocide.

According to them, he also warned that “the Iraq scenario” could repeat itself in Syria after its interim authorities dissolved the army and imposed massive cuts on the public workforce, hinting that disaffected elements might eventually take up arms against the new government. Another of his reported criticisms concerned the “corrupt foundation” that’s being established in Syria and his concerns about the “destructive role” that foreign “terrorist” fighters are playing there nowadays.

Given the international community’s inability to muster a meaningful response, whether coercing the interim authorities into stopping these sectarian killings via some form of pressure or intervening under the “Responsibility to Protect” pretext, Russia should consider accepting Syria’s Alawites as refugees. The ideal scenario would of course be for them to remain in their homeland without fear of being killed on the basis of their religious beliefs but that no longer appears to be a realistic possibility.

Even after the violence ends, many members of this community might understandably feel uncomfortable remaining in their hometowns, but they’ll struggle to find a way to leave. It’s very difficult for Syrians to legally migrate, that country’s Alawites wouldn’t feel safe fleeing illegally to Turkiye (whose government supports those who just massacred their co-religionists despite hosting its own Alawite minority), and Europe is cracking down on illegal immigration. This leaves Russia as their only hope.

The only state actor who is doing anything to really help on the ground at this moment is of course Russia, who has accepted approximately 10,000 refugees at its Kheimmim and Tartus bases, keeping them safe from the jihadi murderers. While the EU would love Joulani to start a fight with Russia by storming the bases, Joulani knows that he and his murderers would be decimated by Russian counterstrikes. Nor do Joulani's Turkish sponsors, notwithstanding their "Crimea is Ukraine" rhetoric (former Greek inhabitants of Turkish-seized Northern Cyprus were not available for comment, because many of them were murdered by invading Turkish soldiers and their local Turk allies in 1974) desire a direct confrontation with Russia.

A Just and Lasting Solution to the Problem of Failed Syrian Statehood and the Joint Israeli/Turkish Carve Up of the Levant

While Russia is more than capable of accepting tens of thousands of Syrian refugees, in the end there can be only one permanent solution that preserves Syrian statehood, rather than being carved up between imperious Israel and a neo-Ottoman Turkey. That is, a reconstituted coalition of the former Assad regime's allies: Russia, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Kurds in Aleppo, as well as Druze in the South and Shi'a tribes along the Lebanese border. There's a remote possibility of Russia and China-backing external intervention sponsored by the GCC countries, with soldiers most likely coming from the Egyptian Army, which could provide peacekeepers to secure a safe zone for Syrian minorities in coastal Latakia and Tartus. Otherwise al-Joulani's men are going to continue revealing their true loyalties by passively accepting Israeli territorial expansionism at the behest of their Turkish masters' permanent joint condominium occupation alongside the Israelis.

In terms of any "Responsibility to Protect" intervention by the Western powers, would American and European “volunteers” and “mercs” fight and die for these “freedom” loving Islamists like they do alongside the “freedom” loving Nazis in Ukraine? The answer is fairly clear to that question. On a parting note, it's no surprise that Joulani’s HTS drone crews that launched their blitz in early December 2024 were full of Ukrainian Nazi specialists and instructors, they're all just one big happy family of Janissaries for the Globalist Evil Empire.
